He hit me so hard that my baby did not survive
CONFESSOR: I am 30 years old. I have 2 kids. I got married to my husband when I was 21. It was a love-come-arranged marriage. After marriage, I got to know he takes drugs. I belong to a lower middle-class family. Before marriage, I used to take home tuitions and worked in small firms as a caller, then as a sales executive for 3 years. My in-laws were wealthy, but my father never liked my husband. I don’t know why, but his intuition was right about him. Before marriage, my father said, ‘Get married, but don’t come back to my house. You won’t have a place here anymore.’ But my mom liked my husband a lot, and she adored him. After a month of marriage, he started beating me badly. His family supports me in front of me, but behind my back, they used to say, ‘She’s the daughter of a poor father. Where else can she go because of her reputation?’ Whenever he beat me within a week, my mother-in-law booked resorts or planned trips for us. They would give me money for shopping. Whenever I tried to say something to my husband or anyone at my place, they manipulated my family, knowing I didn’t have the support of my father.
After 6 months of marriage, I conceived, but my husband hit me so hard, my baby didn’t survive. My in-laws took me to a local clinic, and they didn’t inform my family, even though they were only 5 minutes away. After that incident, I conceived again, but the same thing happened; I lost my twins. That time, I called my sister and told her everything, but she was younger than me. She told my mom, but I got no help. Doctors said due to 2 miscarriages and my husband’s addiction, he can’t be a father again. But my in-laws used to say, ‘This girl is unlucky. Since she came, our business has suffered so much. At that time, I got depression, and I tried to take my life. By God’s grace, within 1.5 years, I conceived again, but it was a high-risk pregnancy. They locked me in a room so I wouldn’t go anywhere. My in-laws gave me the silent treatment. After 9 months, I was blessed with a baby boy, but he was very weak. They said, ‘We only have healthy children in our family. But my husband started loving his son a lot. He used to bathe him, get him ready, and play with him
One day, I overheard my mother-in-law saying to her sister, ‘We’ve had a child, now we’ll get rid of her. Let him turn 2, then we’ll keep her as a servant.’ I was totally broken. After my son’s 1st birthday, they tried to give him formula milk, but he vomited, and the doctor said he had gallbladder stones. They blamed me, and my husband started beating me again, saying, ‘Your family are all prostitutes.’ My in-laws still say these things because they are insecure. My sister is a fashion designer, earning well. She rescued me and my kids from them 2 to 3 times and filed police complaints. Now they say I can’t go to my parents’ house because my sister was dating one of my husband’s friends, who is a nice guy. One day, my husband saw them, and he created a scene, along with his parents. I have a 1.5-year-old daughter as well, but my son suffered a lot. He saw me totally broken, dying. Right now, I don’t have any financial or emotional support. They say I’ll go out and work like my sister, who has a respected job with a celebrity designer. They don’t let me work, only give money for their son and the kids’ needs.
ADMIN: Please let me know if there is any way you want me to help you.
CONFESSOR: Please let me know how I can get out of this marriage. I don’t want my son to be like my husband. My in-laws are teaching him that his mother is not a good mom. He already started hating me. He always says, ‘Grandma will take care of me. You go wherever you want, just leave.’ Being a mom, hearing these words from a 6-year-old is heart-wrenching. I don’t want my daughter to hear from outside that her father is a drug addict, always with peddlers.
ADMIN: Do you want me to get you in touch with a lawyer?
CONFESSOR: But I don’t have the fees to pay the lawyer, and my parents will never support me for this. My in-laws have already taken all my jewelry and belongings, and my husband always threatens to beat me and send our son to Canada to his sister’s place if I say a single word to him. Once, my sister filed a complaint against domestic violence, but the police didn’t take any action. They told me, ‘You have a daughter, and you’re young too; people will sell you here, even the police. You will get good money for young girls. I am in hell, being a mom, both my kids are suffering because of me.
