Karnataka woman kills husband, burns his body to inherit ₹8 crore
In a chilling case from Karnataka, a woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband and setting his body on fire. The investigation revealed that the accused, identified as Niharika, was the man’s second wife. Police say the motive behind the gruesome murder was to gain control over property worth ₹8 crore.
How the Crime Unfolded
The incident took place in Uppal, where Niharika allegedly lured her husband, Ramesh, and strangled him with the help of her accomplices. The group then transported the body to Kodagu, dumping it in a coffee plantation before setting it ablaze to destroy evidence.
The crime came to light on October 8, when locals discovered a charred, unidentified body on the estate. This sparked a high-level police investigation.
Arrests and Investigation
The police quickly mobilized four special teams with 16 officers to solve the case. After scouring CCTV footage from hundreds of cameras, officers identified a red Mercedes Benz registered in Ramesh’s name, which played a critical role in cracking the case. With the help of Telangana police, investigators confirmed that the missing Ramesh was likely the victim.
The investigation zeroed in on Niharika, veterinarian Dr. Nikhil, and Ankur Rana, a Bengaluru resident. The trio was arrested, and during questioning, Niharika confessed to orchestrating the murder.
The Backstory of Niharika
Niharika, 29, originally from Mongeer Nagar in Telangana, faced a challenging life from a young age. After losing her mother, her father remarried. Niharika married early and became a mother, but her first marriage ended in divorce due to personal conflicts.
A bright student, Niharika pursued an engineering degree and excelled academically. However, her life took a dark turn in Haryana, where she became involved in a financial scam and was arrested. After serving time, she moved to Bengaluru and married Ramesh in 2018.
Murder Over ₹8 Crore Assets
Though Ramesh initially supported Niharika’s lavish lifestyle, tensions grew when he refused her demand for ₹8 crore. Frustrated and angry, Niharika, along with Dr. Nikhil and Ankur, meticulously planned and executed the murder, police revealed.
Police Crack the Case
With the arrest of Niharika and her accomplices, the police have brought the investigation to a close. This case highlights how greed and strained relationships can lead to tragic and horrifying consequences
