Siliguri: Female Police Officer’s Misconduct Sparks Outrage

Siliguri, West Bengal: A shocking video of a female police officer, allegedly intoxicated, attempting to kiss a woman while on duty has triggered widespread criticism. The incident took place in Siliguri, involving an officer deployed with the newly introduced “pink mobile van” service, designed to enhance women’s safety.

The officer, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Taniya Roy, was reportedly patrolling when the incident occurred. In the video, which went viral on Wednesday night, Roy can be seen grabbing the woman by the neck and leaning in to kiss her, prompting locals to intervene.

BJP leader Samik Bhattacharya shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his outrage. “People will be shocked to see the state of West Bengal police. ASI Taniya Roy of Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s pink van force ransacked a gambling den while drunk on Wednesday. It was there that a woman was grabbed in an uncoordinated manner, which is clearly visible in the video. She has been accused of reporting to work intoxicated multiple times. The administration of West Bengal is going well,” Bhattacharya wrote sarcastically.

The incident has sparked severe backlash, with calls for action against the officer’s inappropriate behavior.
